As of this morning, 1 billion applications have been downloaded from RIM’s BlackBerry App World. The store is now available in more than 100 countries, with around 3 million applications downloaded each day.
Developer support is what drives many people away from BlackBerry and to larger application stores like Apple’s App Store and the Android Market. In contrast, Apple recently passed the 10 billion download mark.
RIM has gotten a lot of attention lately, mostly bad. The company is thought by many analysts (and some actual employees) to be failing, with some changes necessary in order for it to stay afloat in the changing mobile marketplace.
What do you think about BlackBerry App World hitting the 1 billion mark? Is it good sign for RIM?
