Samsung To Become World’s Largest Smartphone Maker

Samsung is set to become the world’s largest smartphone maker this quarter, taking top honors away from Nokia. Nokia has led the smartphone market since 1996, and will lose the title this quarter to not only Samsung, but also Apple.

“Nokia looks set to relinquish its smartphone crown to Samsung and Apple,” Nomura analysts said in a research note. “Further emphasizing the shift in power to Asia is our forecast for HTC to almost match Nokia during 2012.”┬áThe company is expected to remain the leader in overall phone sales because of its dedication to still making basic cellphones, and supplying phones to emerging countries.

What do you think about Samsung taking the top spot away from Nokia? Do you think it’s a title Sammy will be able to keep, or will it lose out to another company in the long run?
