Earlier today, during its E3 2011 press conference, Nintendo showed a brief demo for the upcoming 3DS version of Mario Kart. With revamped graphics, new abilities, greater customizability, and new maps, Mario Kart 3DS, the title made an impressive appearance at the trade show.
“It’s the game you’ve played for years, but now it’s a tricked out version that you’ve never driven before,” said Reggie Fils-Aime, the President of Nintendo America, while unveiling the title to E3 attendees.
Features shown that were definitely new included an option to customize vehicles with different-sized wheels that will, presumably, have an impact on their handling, and courses that will see Nintendo’s racers taking to the skies and diving underwater.
The 3DS version of Mario Kart is currently scheduled for release this holiday season. We’ll be sure to bring any details about the title’s launch to you when they be come available.
