There was a fun little nugget among all the ripe Apple news today at WWDC: Photo Booth facial tracking in Mac OS X Lion.

The new version of the program is capable of going full screen, thanks to Lion, and users will also get to enjoy a fun new special effect — they’ll be able to place a flurry of flittering birds around their heads. (Just like the old animated cartoon characters! Awww…)

I can almost hear the groans of tech heads everywhere, but at least this is sure to amuse and delight the little ones at home. And that’s not a bad thing — letting the kids play with this could be the only way to get them off your other gadgets once in a while.
