Far Cry 3 Slated for a 2012 Launch on Multiple Platforms

In an attempt to revive the Far Cry series, Ubisoft announced that three separate studios are currently working on a major new project. Far Cry 3 is being built at Canadian mega-studio Ubisoft Montreal, as well as Ubisoft Shanghai and Swedish subsidiary Ubisoft Massive. Like its predecessor, the title will be built with the Dunia engine, the Ubisoft-owned tech based on CryEngine 2.

“Far Cry 3 brings something new and unexpected, while still building upon the foundations of excellence that are inherent to the Far Cry brand,” said producer Dan Hay.

“Whether you’re already a fan of the Far Cry series or jumping into the franchise for the very first time, you’re going to be blown away by the gritty story and epic adventure we’re going to deliver.”

While little is known about the title, we do know that it is slated for a launch in 2012 and will be available on multiple platforms. If we get any new information on the title, we’ll be sure to pass it on to you.

What do you, fellow gamers, think? Do you want to dive back into the Far Cry universe? Is there any specific aspect of the franchise that you want to revisit? Sound off in the comments below.
