After Randy Pitchford hinted at the title’s existence last year, Ubisoft finally confirmed that Brothers in Arms Furious 4 from Gearbox is actually real during its E3 press conference. The latest iteration in the Brother in Arms franchise promises to move the series in a new direction.

Set in World War II, Ubisoft’s latest title will feature a full cooperative campaign, allowing players to team up with three friends and in a competitive multiplayer setting. The story will follow four men, cleverly called the Furious 4, tracking down Hitler, using special weaponry and combat abilities to fight a genetically-altered Nazi army.

“The Brothers in Arms franchise has been renowned for its gritty direction that has dropped players into the middle of World War II,” stated Adam Novickas, US director of marketing at Ubisoft.  “With Brothers in Arms Furious 4, Gearbox brings the action to a whole new level filled with unexpected twists and over-the-top battles that are sure to please new players and fans alike.”

Brothers in Arms Furious 4 is slated for a release during the first half of 2012 on multiple platforms. If you want to take a look at Ubisoft’s E3 trailer, feel free to check out the video above.
