As promised, plenty of news about Need for Speed: The Run was revealed today during Electronic Arts’ E3 press conference.
In a gameplay demonstration, the main character’s epic cross-country race speeds into downtown Chicago, where players will experience breathtaking action both behind the wheel and on foot. The protagonist is forced to steal a police cruiser and evade the mob helicopter and a hailstorm of bullets in his desperate attempt to remain competitive in the race.
One of Black Box’s goals with Need for Speed: The Run was to set the bar for visuals higher than any previous Need for Speed game, and working with DICE’s revolutionary Frostbite 2 engine gave the developer the ability to do exactly that. The visual quality in Need for Speed: The Run is evident in the gameplay demonstration that Electronic Arts played during its press event.
According to those familiar with the matter, the development team is hard at work to create road-hugging physics that are in line with what you expect from an action racing Need for Speed game. Stay tuned for more details about this game, we’ll be sure to bring them to you.
