Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Teaser Trailer – America Under Siege (Video)

After Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 was unofficially unveiled in an extensive leak that details game’s plot at locations, Activision and Infinity Ward made the decision to officially announce the title, providing us with a teaser trailer that is consistent with the concept art that we have seen thus far.

The trailer does not contain any actual gameplay, but rather a stylized New York skyline in the vein of Modern Warfare 2‘s teaser. It appears as if the conflict that plagued Washington D.C. in MW2 has reached one of America’s most iconic cities, which will likely be a playable location in Infinity Ward’s newest game.

Many have been wondering what the Russian at the end of the video says. Though I am unable to speak Russian myself, I do have some friends in Moscow that told me the short blurb of speech translates to, “One will destroy the enemy’s hope of victory.”

Addressing the validity of the massive leak that hit the Internet on Friday afternoon, Robert Bowling, Infinity Ward’s creative strategist, had the following to say on his Twitter account:

A lot of hype & a lot of leaked info on #MW3, some still accurate, some not. To avoid spoiling the experience, I’d wait for the real reveal.

Modern Warfare 3 is a joint effort between Infinity Ward, Raven, and Sledgehammer Games, all of which have contributed to different aspects of the title. Activision will likely give us a full demo of the title at E3 in Los Angeles, which is only a few weeks away. It is rumored that the title will launch on November 8th.

The Call of Duty franchise is an extremely lucrative series released annually by Activision. MW3‘s predecessor, Black Ops, is the best-selling game of all-time. That’s one heck of a reputation to live up to, but Infinity Ward, the primary developer on the project, has a knack for upping the ante with every new title it creates.

Executives at Electronic Arts have publicly targeted the Call of Duty franchise, deeming it unworthy of its numerous awards and sales records. Battlefield 3, a title that is currently being developed by DICE, is looking to compete head-to-head with Infinity Ward’s next first-person shooter in the fall. There is no doubt Activision is hoping that Modern Warfare 3 will destroy Battlefield 3‘s hope of victory.

What do you, fellow gamers, think? Are you looking forward to the next Call of Duty title? Do you believe that Modern Warfare 3 can live up to its predecessor’s reputation? Will the franchise continue its reign over its competitors? Sound off in the comments below.
