Gaming for the Weekend – 5/7

We here at TechnoBuffalo are lovers of all things gadget, gizmo and tech. Video games are a part of that world. As a way to share a little bit more about our editors and their weekend habits, we’ve decided to run a weekly feature every Saturday that dives into what some of the staff are playing.

Whether it’s Angry Birds or Bad Company 2, you’re likely to find a wide variety of titles and preferences here every time you read. Enjoy

Jon Rettinger – President
After months of getting beat in Starcraft 2, I think I’m finally ready for the minor leagues. This weekend I’ll be trying to get ranked…and telling my Mom I love her. Happy Mother’s day!

I finally broke out my copy of Raiden IV for the Xbox 360 this week, because, I’ll admit it, I love a top-down shooter.  While expansive games are all well and good, sometimes you just want to pick up a controller and play for 10 minutes, and there’s nothing like a screen filled with missiles, bullets and ships.  If I tire of that, probably back to Bayonetta … also filled with bullets.  I see a trend here …

Jack McGrath – Contributing Editor
This weekend, I’ll be returning to some of my favorite titles on this console generation. After realizing that it has been a year since Red Dead Redemption launched, I figured it would be a good time to jump back in and start another play through. To keep things fresh, I’ll be popping in Portal 2 and playing through the cooperative campaign. Additionally, there was some Black Ops DLC that launched this week, so I’ll be hopping online to kill some zombies.

I’m looking at a busy weekend split between work and heading home to see the family for Mother’s Day. Friday night was spent playing some co-op and drinking a few beers with a good friend. I haven’t played a game split-screen in a good while, so that was fun. Hopefully today I’ll find some breaks at work in order to whip out my 3DS. The whole time, unfortunately, I’ll be dreaming of sessions with Minecraft.
