Vintage Buffalo is a weekly feature here at TechnoBuffalo where we take a look at our old gadgets, why we bought them, and what made us replace them.  Are you like us and hanging on to some gadget relics of the past? Submit your story to vintagebuffalo@technobuffalo.com be featured in a future Vintage Buffalo!

Gadget:Sega IR7000

Owner: Joe Scardino

Purchase Date:1995

Price:$79.99

Why I bought it: My Dad actually bought it for me at Circuit City. I got it cause I loved Sega. My friend and I were the only ones in our private christian school who had such a thing. We felt special. We could battle each other while not paying attention in class as well as send each other messages!!

Best feature: Early text messaging via IR … cant beat that. I was amazed at it!

Still working?: Absolutely

What made me replace it: It was not replaced by any means … just moved aside for rest!

Why I’m still hanging on/why you gave it up: I hang onto this vintage piece memorabilia because it is a great piece of my gadget loving history. There is absolutely no reason to get rid of it. Sega made awesome gaming devices that greatly added to my childhood growth … hahaha!!! Maybe I’d sell it if it was worth a million dollars!
