Nook Color Updated With Froyo

As promised, Barnes & Noble rolled out an update for the Nook Color today that allows the eReader to run Android 2.2. Coming in the form of a firmware update, the Nook Color now has its own Android Appstore, loaded currently with 125 apps that have been customized specifically to run on the 7-inch tablet.

For the time being, Android applications need to be approved by B&N before they can be included in Nooks Apps, however, many favorites such as Angry Birds and news reader Pulse are already available. The update also adds support for Adobe Flash Player, allowing you to watch videos and view content that previously wasn’t available on the tablet -including many interactive portions of magazines and newspapers.

The Nook Color firmware update is available now for manual download, and will be released over-the-air during the week.

Do any of you have a Nook Color? Have you downloaded the update? What do you think?
