Remember how I’m all excited about Boost Mobile and its cheap monthly plan for the Galaxy Prevail? Well, this isn’t quite as good as $50 a month for unlimited voice, text and data, but it’s something.
Droid-Life got ahold of a Verizon Wireless slide detailing something called “Unleashed,” that appears to be a new prepaid plan matrix Big Red may or may not actually be prepping to … wait for it … unleash upon America. While it doesn’t quite match Boost’s offering, it does offer up unlimited calling and text messaging, plus unlimited Mobile Web (i.e. Web for featurephones) at that magic $50 per month mark.
What’s most exciting about this is that it’s contract free. So even if you tack on a $30/month unlimited data plan, you’re still looking at the same monthly rate you’d be paying for VZW service now, just without the 24-month commitment. Of course you’d have to bring your own phone – or pay full price for one from Verizon – but them’s the breaks when you carry a smartphone in the land of carrier subsidies.
Nobody knows anything … repeat, anything … about when and where Unleashed might launch, or even if this is a legitimate new campaign in Verizon’s plans or just the work of an overzealous photoshopper/xeroxer who wanted to gain some anonymous InterWebz notoriety. Either way, we’ll keep you posted.
