It seems that the Mortal Kombat web series that was announced back in Jan. was either on a fast track for production, or it has already begun by the time we heard about it.  The first clip from Mortal Kombat: Legacy was released yesterday, and the first full episode will be on on April 12th.

Apparently the series will consist of nine episodes with each installment focusing on a different character from the famous fighting game series.  Warner Bros. Digital Distribution, the arm of the company behind the series, promises that we will get never-before-revealed insights into what motivates each fighter to participate in the Mortal Kombat tournament.

Jeri Ryan (Star Trek: Voyager) returns from the original short as “Sonya Blade,” as well as Michael Jai White (The Dark Knight) as “Major Jackson ‘Jax’ Briggs”.  Also returning from the original unauthorized short that was called Mortal Kombat: Rebirth, is Kevin Tancharoen in the director’s chair. Mr. Tancharoen said that they worked closely with NetherRealm Studios on the project to make sure that they stayed true to the source material. “I’m confident we’ve stayed true to the Mortal Kombat lore and am hoping the fans will be blown away by what they see,” said the director.

What do you think?  Will you be tuning in to the series?
