With all of the success of previous downloadable map packs, it comes as no surprise that Activision will try to cash in on its massively successful Call of Duty franchise with a second map pack for Black Ops. Pushed to Xbox 360 users in February, the game’s first piece of downloadable content, First Strike, was purchased 1.4 million times within the first 24 hours of its release. Treyarch did announce plans to put forth additional content beyond First Strike and it appears as if the acclaimed developer will hold true to its promise.
Thanks to the gaming blog VG247, the second map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops was outed by a retailer error. According to the marketing information, viewable above, the downloadable content will be entitled Escalation. It appears as if there will be four multiplayer maps – Zoo, Convoy, Hotel, and Stockpile – and a new zombie map.
Though we know very little about the DLC’s details, the marketing information indicates a May 5th release date. It will likely cost fifteen dollars with an initial release solely on the Xbox due to an exclusivity deal between Microsoft and Activision announced during last year’s E3. Both the PlayStation 3 and PC will begin to sell the content a month later.
What do you, fellow gamers, think? Is there any specific feature that you would like to see in Escalation? Are you willing to shell out the cash to get your hands on it? Sound off in the comments below.
