iOS 4.3 Goes Live Two Days Early

iOS 4.3 is now available for the iPad, 3rd and 4th generation iPod Touch, and GSM iPhone users. The update was originally slated to drop on Friday along with the iPad 2, however, Apple has decided to release the update a little early, possibly to help prevent overloading its servers come iPad 2 activation time on Friday evening.

One of the most noteworthy enhancements that has come with the update is the ability for AT&T customers to use their iPhones as mobile hotspots, a feature that Verizon customers are already able to take advantage of. The 4.3 update is not available for the Verizon version of the iPhone.

Other enhancements arriving in iOS 4.3 include:

  • Improved Safari Performance with a Nitro JavaScript engine
  • iTunes home sharing, which lets you share your iTunes library over Wi-Fi
  • AirPlay improvements -automatically searches for your
  • iPad switch can be used to mute the device or to lock it. Your choice.
