Warner Brothers is now renting movies on Facebook. Movies cost 30 Facebook credits ($3) to rent, and can be watched for 48 hours directly on Facebook, with the ability to pause the film as well as stop and start it again as much as you please during that time. In addition to watching the films on Facebook, viewers will have full Facebook functionality while watching the film, so they can comment on the movie, interact with friends, or update their status.
From Warner Brothers: “Making our films available through Facebook is a natural extension of our digital distribution efforts. It gives consumers a simple, convenient way to access and enjoy our films through the world’s largest social network.”
The first movie Warner Brothers will be offering on Facebook is the Dark Knight. The studio also offered The Dark Knight recently as an application download for the iPhone/iPad which allows you to download or stream the movie, watch special features, and post pictures, quotes, and your own comments about the film to social networks.
