It looks like the iPad 2 isn’t the only new tablet we’ll be seeing over the next few weeks. Boy Genius Report is reporting that the BlackBerry PlayBook will be hitting store shelves on April 10, a little less than a month after the iPad 2.
The Boy Genius report also indicates that the OS will receive an upgrade to GM (gold master) before the tablet actually arrives in stores, making it so new PlayBook owners will have to update their PlayBook to the new version of as soon as they take it out of the box.
RIM has already announced that it plans to offer four different versions of the tablet:
- BlackBerry PlayBook with Wi-Fi
- BlackBerry 4G PlayBook with WiFi + WiMax
- BlackBerry 4G PlayBook with Wi-Fi + LTE
- BlackBerry 4G PlayBook with Wi-Fi + HSPA+
RIM is also rumored to be adding support for Android applications to both the PlayBook and its line of BlackBerry smartphones.
What do you think about a PlayBook in April? Anyone planning on picking one up?
