A version of the Android Market is on its way to Google TV soon. Ashish Arora, the vice president and general manager for Logitech’s Digital Home Group said in a panel discussion Tuesday “It will happen shortly…It’s a given that it will happen this year, 100 percent…We’re talking about very short term.”

He later went on to say “It won’t just be weather apps…What will be really interesting will be to tie the content to what you’re watching.”

Logitech has been selling the Logitech Revue since Oct. The Revue allows you to add Google TV functionality to any high-definition television.Sony also sells a line of Google TVs with that functionality built in.

The statement implies that a version of the Android Market will exist specifically for Google TV, and will have different offerings than you might find on your phone or tablet. It’ll be interesting to see what types of applications show up in the market, and how they integrate with the functionality already in Google TV.

Do any of you use Google TV? What sorts of apps would you like to see hit the marketplace for it?
