Motorola Bringing Atrix-Style Docks To All Its High-End Smartphones

The Atrix won’t be the only Motorola phone to have a laptop dock. Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha told investors yesterday that the company will be bringing its webtop applications and docks to its entire line of high-end smartphones the second half of this year.

The Motorola Atrix was released last Wednesday. The phone has an optional laptop dock, which is powered entirely by the phone. A desktop dock to turn connect the phone to an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse is also available, as well as an entertainment dock to connect it to your HDTV.

The laptop dock for the Atrix is being sold for $499 by itself, or paired with the phone for the same price. Customers who take advantage of the bundled price are required to purchase a tethering plan from AT&T for an additional $20/month. The desktop dock is slightly cheaper, coming in at $189 bundled with a mouse and keyboard.

What do you think about the docks option for smartphones? Would you buy one of them?
