Amazon Launches Streaming Video Service

Amazon has launched its free streaming video service for Prime members. The service briefly popped up on some users accounts late last month, but has officially been released now for all Prime members.

Amazon Prime is a premium service from Amazon. The $79/year service gives users unlimited free two-day shipping of products from Amazon, and now unlimited commercial-free instant streaming of close to 5,000 movies and TV shows.

The video is in 480p, which is not as good what is offered by some streaming competitors, but would certainly be watchable. The service is only available for paid Prime subscribers (so if you scored one of Amazon’s free college accounts you’re out of luck), and is currently U.S. Only.

What do you think about Amazon streaming video? Do you see yourself potentially using the service?
