Sony’s NGP Games Trailer in HD (Video)

The same trailer shown off during Sony’s press conference is now on the web in something actually entirely watchable; no more shaky-cam induced sea sickness. (Be sure to tick the trailer up to 720p.) The trailer rolls through the supposed games due out at some point for Sony’s next portable, the NGP. Each game should only be considered unofficial until the launch list firms up.

In order, the (working) titles featured during the two minute romp:

  • Hot Shots Golf
  • Gravity Daze
  • Killzone
  • Hustle Kings
  • Reality Fighters
  • Smart As
  • Broken
  • LittleBigPlanet
  • Little Deviants
  • WipEout
  • Resistance
  • Uncharted

Within the upcoming titles shown, a few points are worth picking out of the pack. First of all, if what we’ve been seeing is actual gameplay, then the NGP looks fantastic. It will obviously take a hands-on impression with the new OLED screen to know for sure, but this system looks to come packing amazing visuals. This trailer shows off vibrant colors and spectacular contrast ratios, not to mention graphics that come close to those found on the high-powered PS3. The combination is simply stunning.

Little Deviants actually proves an interesting use of the touch pad that lines the back of the NGP. Before seeing it in motion personally, I’m a bit skeptical of the rear touch pad’s actual value. It will take creative games made specifically for the input mechanic to convince me otherwise. Little Deviants is on the right track.

Finally, much like smartphones and the upcoming 3DS, the NGP will be making use of the world of augmented reality. Capturing the environment using the handheld’s built-in camera and then virtually projecting game objects into the world through the screen seems to be all the rage these days. Smart As and Reality Fighters both appear to be making use of this new tech.

As launch dates and details firm up, we’ll be here with the information.

Any particular title or feature catch anyone’s eye during the games trailer?
