Hey, kids! Greetings from sunny, Summer-like San Francisco. I’m at Moscone Center for MacWorld 2011, and I must say I’ve been pleasantly surprised by the show thus far. No, there’s nothing groundbreaking here, and no Apple didn’t make a surprise appearance, but given last year’s pretty dismal experience my expectations for ’11 were set pretty low. And last night’s Media Reception didn’t help matters, frankly.
But, from the moment I walked in today I felt a bit of a buzz, saw lots of people, and started coming across cool design and some innovative apps and accessories – particularly for iPad users. My early candidate for Best in Show is Algoriddim’s djay for iPad, a virtual turntable setup that works with your iPad’s touchscreen, iTunes library and audio out jack. Full video demo of that one coming soon.
Beyond that I’ve seen some interesting case/mounting solutions to bring your iPad into your kitchen, car, lap and bed, and some innovative ways to print, organize/track your finances, and otherwise get more out of your Mac. And lots of protection and power solutions for iPhone and iPad users on the go. And, yes, a Bluetooth meat thermometer that transmits reports from your grill to your iOS device. Full reports on the neat stuff – if not the meat stuff (get it? LOLZ) – coming soon. For now, enjoy the photos!
