What Is Verizon Announcing If Its Not The iPhone? (open thread)

by Sean P. Aune | January 9, 2011January 9, 2011 12:08 pm PDT

Look, you know Verizon is introducing the iPhone at Tuesday’s announcement. I know it’s what they’re introducing. Basically every person in the United States knows that’s what happening on Tuesday.

But, what if it’s not? What if we’re living in some alternate reality where Verizon is gathering the press in New York City to announce something totally not cool and/or interesting?

While chatting on Twitter this morning, a friend messaged me suggesting that it was Verizon getting fully behind Windows Phone 7, and that led to a slew of jokes about what else could be coming.

Kin 3/LTE – “Really, the Kin 1 and Kin 2 weren’t bombs, and we have a new version to prove it!”

iPhone 3G – “Hey, you all just kept saying you wanted an iPhone on Verizon, you didn’t say which generation!  Oh, and they’re all refurbished …”

LTE – “Have you all noticed how much ass LTE kicks?  What’s that?  No, no product announcements, we just wondered if you’d noticed.”

Android Handset – “It’s a new Android handset.  We plan to do this every time we release one now, so we expect to see you every few days.”

FiOS Channel – “We’re adding a  new channel to FiOS and we knew you’d be excited!  Please welcome … The Golf Channel!”  (before anyone yells at me, I have no clue what channels are on FiOS, so if The Golf Channel is there, you still get the point)

So, there you go folks.  Our theories on what Verizon could announce on Tuesday other than the iPhone.  You have some ideas also?  Leave your “predictions” in the comments below.
