Kno Tablet Finally Shipping

For those that have been following the development of the Kno tablet, a device directed sacrificially towards those in the academic setting, an early Christmas gift popped up this week: The tablet has begun shipping to pre-order customers as of this week.  The concept has become reality as they make their way into the hands of users all over the United States.

For anyone who may not remember the Kno, it’s a color tablet measuring in at an impressive 14.1-inches in size.  It will be sold as a single or double panel, with the prices being $599 or $899 respectively.

The only people purchasing them currently are pre-order customers, and that phase is expected to last a month.  Even with these people being the first to be receiving their units, development is not stopping on the device.  “Designing and developing the Kno has been a collaborative 18 month process with students, partners and publishers, and it’s exciting to see our vision come to fruition,” said Babur Habib, CTO and Co-Founder of Kno, Inc. “We look forward to hearing from our first customers and working with them to continue to innovate on the product.”

Considering the failures of other tablets in the academic setting, this one should be interesting to watch since it is designed specifically for that purpose.  Could this be he one to finally break the barrier?  Only time well tell.

What say you?  Any interest in the Know?
