The iOS App Store is continuing to grow, and with the total number of apps having now surpassed 300,000, it’s a good time to take a look at how the mix of the store breaks down.
App of the Day gathered all of the data together, and I for one have to say I’m a bit surprised it how some of it shook out. For instance, with the growth of the iPad you would think there would be more apps designed specifically for the tablet, but as it stands only seven percent of the apps are specific to it with a further eight percent being universal. True, it’s only eight months old, but that’s all? I would suspect as the second generation of the device is released next year we’ll see it jump, but still interesting.
7,000 apps from one developer? Wow. That’s just insane.
An intriguing infographic to say the least. Entering the App Store can be an overwhelming experience, so to see it layout in numbers certainly puts it in better perspective.
