Verizon Announcing the iPhone on Nov. 9th?

Before you stick a fork in your eye at the thoughts of reading another iPhone to Verizon story, here me out. The chapters of this book seem to be taking shape in this mythical story of the iPhone going to Big Red.

Here at TechnoBuffalo we have reported on numerous stories that lead us to believe iPhone will be headed to Verizon, but Nov. 9th we’re not so sure about. First, Verizon has been ramping up staffing at call centers across the country to practically double the current levels, specifically in their number porting division.

Now a Verizon internal training memo has been circulating around the internet describing an “iconic device” that will be available for pre order on Nov. 9th. The memo also indicates that that this device will be in very high demand. Most iPhone lovers are hoping this is the announcement everyone has been waiting for for a few years now.

Unfortunately, I think this is going to turn out to be another disappointment for Verizon customers hoping to score the iPhone. As has been noted, another “iconic device” will be available for pre order from Verizon on that day, and it doesn’t start with an “i”. The “iconic device” that you will have the privilege of pre ordering is (drumroll please), the Motorola Droid Pro. There is one sliver of hope that this announcement will actually be the iPhone: Apple does like to make announcements on Tuesdays which the 9th happens to be.
