Flashback Friday: Cars of the Future

I’ve always been fascinated by concept cars.  They are always so wildly over the top, and what we eventually get only passes a fleeting resemblance to what they promised us.

I can remember seeing this 1950’s cartoon many times in my childhood, and for whatever reason the whole bit about the “wider front seats” always stuck with me.  No clue why, but that’s the scene I always most vividly remember.  The funny thing is that considering this cartoon is now around 60 years old, it just shows that people have always thought these proposed cars were a tad on the silly side.

Sure we would love to see some of these real world crazy cars come to be a reality (flying cars!), but the whole point is that these cars get built to grab headlines and the covers of auto magazines.  If they do that job, than they are a success, but no one ever actually expects them to become a reality.

What say you?  What are some features cars don’t currently have that you would like to see?  (And yes, you can get crazy with the ideas)
