Skype has become one of those applications that it seems just about everyone has. We all have at least one instant messaging program, one Web browser at minimum and then we have Skype. It’s a difficult program to resist. Even with so many other services adding VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) functionality, it still seems we all want that dedicated app for its superior call quality and features, and Skype is the best solution.

Considering how long Skype has been around it can be hard to believe, but there are some people who still don’t have it, and as the infographic below demonstrates, the service continues to add new members. Not only are its user numbers growing to an estimated one in 12 people of the world’s population, it also is estimated to handle 13 percent of all international calls now.

By the way, these numbers mean that Skype is larger than Facebook …
