While school isn’t out yet for many, Apple is starting to take a proactive approach to the back-to-school shopping pains by offering college students a deal on some of its products including Macs and iPods.  Tech geeks alike however, know this is Apple clearing their store shelves for the 2011 line of Apple products.

The new promotion was launched on Tuesday and this will allow students, teachers and parents shopping for their students to purchase a new Mac and with the investment, comes a free iPod touch.  Students will as well get a little bit of savings through the educational pricing on the Mac, which is a good incentive.

Computers students may purchase with the promotion include the iMac, MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and Mac Pro.  Refurbished computers do not quality for the promotion but build-to-order computers are.

The free iPod offer extends to any iPod up to the maximum price of $199.

The offer runs from Tuesday, May 25th, 2010 to September 7th, 2010.  Rules and conditions are posted here.
