The MS-DOS 5.0 Rap Promo

Has Microsoft ever produced a promo video that wasn’t just plain painful to watch?  Their commercials have always been pretty painful, but for some odd reason their promo videos just showcase a company that is so uncool as you almost wonder if they are parodies of some other video you have’t seen.  Perhaps they shoot a real one, parody it, and then forget to send the serious one that actually makes sense out to people?  Whatever the case may be, they do provide an endless stream of unintentional comedy.

ms-dos 5 promoThis video for MS-DOS 5 has to be one of the most painful things ever to watch.  From the bad rapping that is so bad it can’t even be intentionally bad, to just the totally fake looks of excitement on the two people being taught to use the program.  I did kind of enjoy seeing 5.25″ floppie disks though … I remember when we all thought we were getting a big upgrade by going to 3.5″ disks as we went from 1.2 MB per disk to 1.44 MB per disk.  It was like we were living the high life!

I’m not sure what is more frightening: the fact this was a promo for retailers, or the random dancing elephants that show up on the desks at the end that have no apparent reason for even existing.

Oh, Microsoft … you are an endless source of entertainment.
