Hulu Prepping $9.95 Subscription Service

Was it inevitable?  Sources close to Hulu are reporting that the popular TV streaming, Flash playing powerhouse is set to launch a subscription service come May 24th.   Appropriately named “Hulu Plus”, subscribers who want access to episodes beyond the most recent five will have no choice but to drop ten bucks a month to gain access to the archived episodes.

Although Hulu pulled in over $100 million from advertising during its 2-year life span, it’s not the first time whispers of a subscription made the rounds.  Around the iPad launch, there were reports that Hulu was working to bring its television library to the tablet through a subscription model.  Perhaps this subscription trial reported yesterday could be seen first on the iPad.

What do you think of Hulu’s plan to only offer the five most recent episodes for free?  Will it have any impact on your Hulu allegiance?  Is $9.95 too much?  Let us know what you think in the comments.
