McDonalds has teamed up with Nintendo in Japan to create a training program for the Nintendo DS that allows employees to brush up on their burger flipping and learn the monotony of the fast food joint. Employees apparently use the DS as part of their job training to learn the science of making your double cheeseburgers, deep frying your french fries, and cleaning their workstation. It’s all part of an initiative to have every McDonalds in Japan on the program by the year’s end as they’ve seen employees catching onto their job responsibilities almost twice as fast as traditional training methods. Perhaps one day McDonalds will bring the program stateside so we can get a first hand look at just how much fun virtual burger flipping can be. Is it a gimmick or do you think such an idea has potential to speed up job training? Your guess is as good as ours.
