Move aside, iPad rumors, it’s iPhone’s turn. The unveiling of the aluminum HTC Legend back at Mobile World Congress gave rise to the possibility that Apple’s next iPhone could follow suit, adopting the sturdy unibody construction found in the MacBook Air, MacBook Pros, and the iPad. If these images are in fact real, it looks like we’ve got a mini iPad coming this summer.
MacRumors received three photos of what is purportedly the next housing for the the iPhone. The casing appears to be an aluminum shell with the typical iPhone cutouts for the volume rocker, silence switch, dock connector, camera, speaker & microphone jacks, and two screw holes found on the 3G and 3GS. With a smaller Apple logo and 64GB storage label, the only thing missing is the stamp of FCC approval. The images are certainly grainy — as most leaks are — but any shift away from the plastic backing would certainly be welcome in the upcoming “A+” revision.
