From The Apple II To The iPad, A Look Back At The Early Days

First, let me apologize for the highly annoying voice in this commercial, but what do you you expect from a local computer store commercial in 1978?  The fact it showed descending code characters like The Matrix movies is kind of amusing, though.

However, the fact that the only commercial you can find for an original Apple II is a local computer store version should tell you quite a bit about just how far Apple has come.  From not producing any commercials of its own to now being well-known for its popular and catchy ads that you can’t seem to escape, and you can instantly see how far the company has come in just over 30 years.

apple iiAlthough the Apple II wasn’t the first computer from the company, it was the first that didn’t require you build it yourself.  Yes, things change with time, but it’s hard to believe this simplistic looking machine is from the same company that is now obsessed with rounded corners, as few buttons as possible and chroming everything that it can.

Yes, we are talking about a tablet as the latest product compared to a desktop, but you look at the change in design and such, it’s just an amazing difference.

It is intriguing that when you look back at the commercial you can already see Apple already getting all crazy with color, and this local store felt that was a major selling point.  Considering the competition that was on the market at that time, that really was a huge step forward, and it just shows how much Apple has always tried to be a trend setter.

Makes you wonder what Apple products will look like in another 30 years.
