With some big announcements already unleashed to the tech world, both Microsoft and Apple have sent out invites today for a preview of what’s next for each.
Engadget received a paper invite from Seattle that reads “It’s Time To Share” for an event scheduled for next week, April 12th. There’s nothing certain beyond those vague words but there’s a few things Microsoft could be planning for their press event. The recently renamed Windows Phone 7 has seen its fair share of mini events over the past few months so it’s possible we could be hearing more details around the much anticipated mobile OS. Following a tablet-filled CES and another Courier leak, Microsoft could be ready to take the wraps off their take on the tablet computer. The most likely scenario seems to be the unveiling of the two Project Pink phones that Gizmodo reported would launch on Verizon towards the end of April. Expect to hear more as next Monday draws near.
Apple sent out an invite of their own for an event they’ve scheduled for this coming Thursday, April 8th. Focused around the iPhone OS, it looks like we’ll be getting a first look into the features that’ll make their way into this summer’s 4.0 update. Among the most vocal of those demanded by users, AppleInsider suggests we can expect Apple to finally flip the switch for third-party application multitasking via an Exposé implementation. Until Thursday rolls around, we can all keep speculating.
What do you think Microsoft will introduce next week? What features do you expect Apple to introduce to iPhone OS this Thursday? Drop a guess or two in the comments.
