Siri is a Mini Wolfram Alpha, But Just as Cool

by Travis Harvey | February 5, 2010February 5, 2010 3:31 am PDT

Remember Wolfram Alpha?  It’s the smartest search engine around that can get you instant answer for virtually anything you throw at it.  An expansion on that idea, Siri is a virtual personal assistant that can seemingly decipher anything you need to know.  It’s a search engine that’ll execute tasks so you don’t have to.  You can ask it for restaurant or movie listings, use it to make reservations, or something as simple as the weather.  As Siri gets to know the user better, it’ll be able to complete new tasks like sending you email reminders and flight statistics.  Currently, Siri is only available for the iPhone 3GS, but expect 3G and iPod Touch support in the near future.  Go get it!
