Samsung just wrapped up its massive press conference in New York City’s Radio City Music Hall and, well, it was exciting to say the least. Of course, most of the leaks already gave us an idea of what we were going to see tonight, but we finally had a chance to hold the phone ourselves and bring you our first impressions.

First thoughts? I don’t think most consumers are going to be able to tell the difference between the Galaxy S III and the Galaxy S 4 at first glance. The two look incredibly similar. Thankfully, though, Samsung added a ton of distinguishing software features, including S Health, S Voice Drive, KNOX security, S Translate and much more. Plus, the whole experience is super fast thanks to the zippy processor and 2GB of RAM. I’m also not sure I dig the polycarbonate back, especially when competing devices such as the HTC One offer a much sexier all-aluminum body. Still, there are benefits, like a removable battery and expandable storage.

Everything was really quick and fluid on the phone, likely due to the much beefier hardware under the hood, and we’re glad that it’s headed to all of the major U.S. carriers soon. We’ll be bringing you a more detailed report and hands-on videos, so stay tuned.
