Let’s face it: Nintendo’s Wii can benefit from an update in graphics, and that’s putting it nicely. Compared to competition from the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the graphical prowess of the company’s current generation console is pretty awful. That’s not the case with Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U. We got a chance to glimpse two of the Wii U’s bigger titles at E3, Batman: Arkham City Armored Edition and Assassin’s Creed III, and they both looked fantastic — and they were HD! No, neither blew our minds, but the console’s power was definitely on par with what we saw out of the 360 and PS3 early on in their respective life cycles. I’d expect as development on the Wii U continues, graphics will get even better. Right now, we like where Nintendo is headed.
