If you’re a follower of TechnoBuffalo or of TechnoBuffalo’s Driven YouTube channel, you know that we LOVE cars, especially electric cars.
If you’re an EV driver you are probably already familiar with ChargePoint. From my experience it is the easiest network to use, offers a very robust app paired with easy to use but highly effective hardware.
We were fortunate to have the opportunity to interview Pat Romano, President and CEO of ChargePoint, the largest EV charging network in the world. He addressed a wide array of questions for us including:
- How fast the EV market and in turn the ChargePoint network is growing?
- Do consumers have to worry about changing standards in EV charging?
- What sets ChargePoint apart from competitors?
- What’s next in store for ChargePoint?
I’m a firm believer of electric cars and hope to see more cars on the road. A large part of their success relies on charging networks like ChargePoint. ChargePoint in turn looks to independent owners to provide real estate and costs to deliver charges to cars. Hopefully businesses see the benefit of offering charging stations. I for one make it a point of going to businesses that offer charging stations.
Fact: initial costs of cars are higher than your average car, but there are some remarkable and inexpensive plug-in cars entering the market (e.g., Chevy Spark, Ford Focus). You will definitely see more ChargePoint stations as EVs become more popular. Next time you pull-in to refuel your car you may pull up to a ChargePoint station and not in to a Chevron station. I know I do.
