In my years of unboxing videos, never has a phone made me nervous to hold and use. The $2,400 BlackBerry P9981 carries that dubious distinction. Essentially a BlackBerry Bold 9900, this Porsche designed device is crafted with stainless steel materials along with a grippy leather-clad back. It looks high-end, and certainly feels high-end, but I’m not so sure either justifies such an astounding asking price.

Because the device is aimed at a very specific overseas market, the P9981’s keyboard is decked out in not only english letters and numbers, but Arabic characters as well. During our limited use, it made for a very cramped typing experience, something that doesn’t bode well for such a message-centric phone.

Spec-wise, the P9981 comes equipped with a 1.2GHz single-core processor, 8GB of internal storage (microSD expandable), NFC support and HD video recording capabilities. In addition, the device’s BlackBerry 7.0 OS runs a Porsche Design theme and, to show others just how fancy you are, comes with a PIN that begins with a P. How’s that for luxury?

Check out our unboxing and let us know what you think. Would you ever pick up a phone with such a high asking price? What features would it need to have?
