I wasn’t really expecting to like the LG Optimus G as much as I do. LG’s handsets have been largely so-so devices in the past that, while good, don’t usually go toe-to-toe with the highest-end smartphones. That’s not the case with the Optimus G for AT&T, however. Everything about the device, from its hardware to its industrial design, screams high-end. And it follows through on those shouts.
LG Optimus G Hands-On Video
The Optimus G is equipped with a stellar, and I mean stellar, True IPS HD display that provides incredible viewing angles and helps text look amazingly sharp. It’s also equipped with one of the most powerful processors we’ve ever come across: Qualcomm’s quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro chip. Everything flies super quick, even though the phone runs Android ICS and not the newer, faster Android Jelly Bean operating system. AT&T’s version also offers an LED notification light around the power button, which I love, as well as 16GB of storage and a microSD card slot that comes with a 16GB card. AT&T cut back on the camera a bit, however. Its model has an 8-megapixel shooter instead of the 13-megapixel option available on the international and Sprint iterations of the phone. That’s not a huge deal, though, because photos still look pretty solid so far.
The Optimus G will be available from AT&T on Nov. 2 for $199.99 with a new two-year contract, but you can pre-order it now. Enjoy our video and gallery and stay tuned for a full review in the coming days.
