News Corp., with the assistance of Apple, officially launched the iPad-only “newspaper” The Daily today.
While The Daily had been talked about for some time, the official launch only came today at a press conference hosted by News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch in New York City. What sets this publication apart from others is that, for the time being, it is primarily an iPad-only news source.
Traditional newspapers such as USA Today have launched successful applications on Apple devices, but those traditional sources are still selling printed versions of themselves. The Daily, on the other hand, was imagined from the ground up as an electronic publication that bridges the capabilities of the digital age with the sensibilities of old media.
