Apple Rant: iPad 2 & iOS 5 (video)
The Apple iOS operating system has remained essentially the same since its introduction with the first iPhone in 2007. While the company has continually innovated when it comes to its hardware, the core software has only seen updates in drips and drabs. When, if ever, is Apple going to finally realize that the user experience of iOS needs a distinct refresh?
Other mobile operating systems have been continually innovating in an attempt to keep up with the marketshare Apple has obtained with its various iOS devices. They’ve come up with new ways to provide you with notifications, to see more information on your unlock screens at a glance, true multi-tasking a whole lot more. The last major thing Apple gave us was folders. Excuse us while we try to contain our excitement.
Apple has been a company known for its innovation for years, yet we constantly find ourselves disappointed with each release of iOS. While its doubtful we will see any major changes come the iPad 2 announcement tomorrow, we can hold out hope for the inevitable iPhone 5 announcement this summer.
What do you think? Is it time for Apple to give iOS a major overhaul?
