No New Xbox or Price Drop Coming Soon

According to Gameinformer.com, Microsoft has stated that there will not be a new Xbox going out their doors anytime soon. As stated by David Hufford, senior director of Xbox product management, ”the Xbox was designed for a long life, and I don’t even know if we’re at the midpoint yet.” He continues on stating,”I think it’s important to say that the Xbox 360 is the console of the long future for us. There is no need to launch a new console, because we’re able to give this console new life either with software upgrades or hardware upgrades like Project Natal.”

With Project Natal coming out this holiday season, and many more great games being released in the 2010 year, it helps to know that there is no planned system coming out soon. Gamers can shop for games without worrying of them quickly being outdated.

Hufford also stated that as far as the price for the Xbox 360 goes, they are happy where it is at.

With no new system being released, it is safe to say that you can shop for a 360 without any worries of not having the latest and greatest thing.

Apple rolls out new App Store look

Apple is rolling out a new look to their App Store individual app pages tonight which brings it in line with the rest of the iTunes 9 design that was revealed a few months ago. The changes will be of primary interest to App Store developers who rely on the App Store pages to drive sales.

Changes that may impact developers include:

- Much larger icon is shown
- Multiple screenshots are more obvious to viewer
- App description is truncated to the first 2 lines by default. While users can expand to see the rest of the description, many will likely not. This places much more importance on the first two lines of the App’s description
- More apps by the same developer are listed automatically

Please note that not all app pages have been updated yet, but will soon.

Google introduces new, ‘fade-in’ homepage effect

Google has unveiled a new ‘fade-in’ style homepage for users.

When the site loads,  the logo, the search box and the two search buttons will be the only things visible. Upon moving the mouse over the window that has Google.com loaded, everything else will fade-in.

Google has explained the changes on its blog, stating, “For the vast majority of people who come to the Google homepage, they are coming in order to search, and this clean, minimalist approach gives them just what they are looking for first and foremost. For those users who are interested in using a different application like Gmail, Google Image Search or our advertising programs, the additional links on the homepage only reveal themselves when the user moves the mouse. Since most users who are interested in clicking over to a different application generally do move the mouse when they arrive, the ‘fade in’ is an elegant solution that provides options to those who want them, but removes distractions for the user intent on searching.”

PLEASE NOTE: It seems as though some users have not seen this new feature or some specific web browsers.
