Bungie Helps Haiti Victims by Donating Profits from Shirts and Online Play

Bungie has announced that in honor of the Haiti earthquake victims, they will be donating all profits made from purchases in apparel and accessorie sales on their website through the end of February. You can purchase a special shirt showing the support to Haiti, with 100 percent of procedes of those sales going to the Red Cross no matter what time of purchase. You can purchase shirts and accessories from Bungie here.Haiti Support Shirt from Bungie

If you are tight on cash or just don’t need any more shirts you can also help support Haiti just by playing Matchmaking on Halo 3, or Firfight on Halo 3: ODST. That’s right you can help out just by playing video games. All you have to do is change your emblem for your character and play an online match. It can be a Custom Game, but it has to be online in order for Bungie to keep track of how many people play a game with the Emblem.

Bungie will donate $100 for every 1000 players who play a match with this emblem during Wednesday January 20 at 00:01AM PST through Thursday January 21 at 23:59PM PST. They will donate up to $77,000 for the online play.

So what does this emblem look like you ask? Well here’s a picture.

Haiti Donation Emblem

The instructions on how to make this emblem are as followed:

  • Press START
  • Select “SETTINGS” / “APPEARANCE”
  • Select “EMBLEM”
  • Select “Hearts” ICON, “Circle” BACKGROUND
  • Back out to the APPEARANCES menu and select “COLORS”
  • Set “EMBLEM PRIMARY” to RED (or MAROON / BRICK / ROSE depending on which game you’re playing!)
  • Set “EMBLEM SECONDARY” to WHITE
If you keep on playing through midnight on Thursday, DO NOT remove the emblem because you might not be counted.
This is a great way to help out the World without having to actually donate real money. If you are going to play Halo 3 or Halo 3: ODST on those days why not just change the emblem for a day or two and help out the people in need.
This is a great thing that Bungie is doing and it is very nice to see that companies are helping out.

No New Xbox or Price Drop Coming Soon

According to Gameinformer.com, Microsoft has stated that there will not be a new Xbox going out their doors anytime soon. As stated by David Hufford, senior director of Xbox product management, ”the Xbox was designed for a long life, and I don’t even know if we’re at the midpoint yet.” He continues on stating,”I think it’s important to say that the Xbox 360 is the console of the long future for us. There is no need to launch a new console, because we’re able to give this console new life either with software upgrades or hardware upgrades like Project Natal.”

With Project Natal coming out this holiday season, and many more great games being released in the 2010 year, it helps to know that there is no planned system coming out soon. Gamers can shop for games without worrying of them quickly being outdated.

Hufford also stated that as far as the price for the Xbox 360 goes, they are happy where it is at.

With no new system being released, it is safe to say that you can shop for a 360 without any worries of not having the latest and greatest thing.

Assassin’s Creed Two Review

When the first Assassin’s Creed came out, I wasn’t the biggest fan. It had a few things wrong with it that I just did not enjoy. So when the sequel was released I can say I was a little skeptical at buying it. I actually just rented it because I heard it was so good, so I had to see it for myself.

Let me start off with this, THIS GAME IS AMAZING. The changed everything that I didn’t like in the first one and it really made this game worth the time to play. You can really tell that the developers really spent a lot of time and passion on the making of this game. Every little detail was spot on; I cannot think of a time that there was something out of place.

So the story line is that you play as Desmond Miles from the present day who is put into a device called the Animus 2.0. What this device does is it traces down a certain ancestor and actually lets the modern day person play as the ancestor. So you get sent to be Ezio Auditore Da Firenze from the Renaissance period in Italy. You have to carry out many different tasks including; races, assassinations, delivery, and much more. There is also the main story line with many different things to do throughout it.

I can say that they got the buildings and time zone set up perfectly. You really feel like you’re in the Renaissance period. They put a few landmarks in the game that are still standing today, and they look great. Each character looks fantastic as well. Each main person in the game has their own unique look and the clothes look fantastic. All the vivid colors are amazing. Ezio’s outfit is mostly red and white and I can say that playing on an HD television really makes the red pop out. It’s a very vibrant colorful game with many looks for the characters.

Sound in the game is phenomenal. Everyone sounded like they were from the Renaissance, and they all had the perfect Italian accent. As far as the environment sounds, they were spot on. When you were on a horse the galloping sounds were different when you were on different surfaces. The brick and grass had a huge difference in the sound of the hooves.

Controls for the game were simple and easy to use. There was no point in time when I was confused with the controls. There is no huge learning curve to the game, and that really made it much more enjoyable.

Overall, this game was probably one of the best games I played of 2009. There was nothing that I noticed that wasn’t right. I would recommend this game to anyone who’s looking for a new and enjoyable experience. I give this game a 10/10 and look forward to playing it for the years to come.

27″ iMac gaming - World of Warcraft

Hey guys, Scoooorn here! As many of you know I recently purchased a 27″ core i7 iMac. This machine is beautiful, and powerful. Now most people who buy PC’s want to play games on their computers. This has also been a huge debate in the mac vs PC world. PC fans have always had the advantage in the gaming world, but apple has been making strides lately, more games are coming out on apple devices, and with bootcamp any mac computer can play PC games. But can they play them well? Join me as I test out a huge variety of games. From power hungry games like Crysis, to the not so demanding counter strike source.

Lets get this started with arguably the most popular computer game ever! World of Warcraft. I had this game running on a 2560 x 1440 resolution with all settings on max. As you can see the game runs beautifully. The frames per second never dropped below 30 in highly populated areas, but averaged around 60 every where else. All in all this machine runs WOW perfectly.

If you have any suggestions for future iMac gaming posts let me know and I will do my best to get a post on it. Thanks for all the support you guys!

Digital Comics?

Hey guys its the Scoooorn and this if my first post for the Tech Bulletin! I’m really excited to bring you the news from video games, and Tech! As its my first post I think I should let you know a little more about me. I am currently 23 years old living in a lil city in Utah, and I just LOOOOVE technology. Ever since I was a lil youngster I dreamed about having amazing computers, and video game consoles. Now that I am a bit older I’ve been able to make that dream a reality. Anywho my first post is going to be about a new feature in the PSP and I hope you like it!

In Sony’s latest PSP firmware update (6.20) they added a bunch of new features. The one that really caught my eye was a digital comic service for their playstation network store. Now I don’t read comics, but my brother is a huge fan and he thought this feature was really cool. You download comics from their service, launch their player and enjoy a full comic on your PSP device. It uses a really nifty transition tool so you get to see all of the artwork and the text, it also adds effects like earthquakes which brings the comics to life.

Currently there is only 1 comic available but it is free! So if you would like to give this feature a test run go to the playstation network on your PSP and choose to redeem a code, then type in A8D2-KMBF-JKE4 this will get you a free transformers comic.

Now I’m not sure die hard comic fans will ever drop real comics in favor for a digital counterpart but still its a nice option for the tech heads out there. Also who knows this might be the wave of the future as there have been quite a few rumors about an apple tablet that would have a comic book reader in it, maybe this is just the start.
