How to begin using the Google ‘Jazz UI’ in your web browser

In this tutorial, we show you how to setup and use the beta, codename ‘Jazz UI’, Google search interface. The new blue interface of the Google search engine is in early testing and takes on the look of Microsoft’s, Bing search engine. Follow the following tutorial on how to begin using the ‘Jazz UI’ and test it yourself. In a later review, we will give you a walkthrough of the ‘Jazz UI’ and a full description.

Step 1: Launch your web browser of choice

Step 2: Go to http://www.google.com

Step 3: Remove the “http://www.google.com” in the address bar and place this text in, making sure it is the only thing in the address bar:

javascript:void(document.cookie=”PREF=ID=20b6e4c2f44943bb:U=4bf292d46faad806:TM=1249677602:LM=1257919388:S=odm0Ys-53ZueXfZG;path=/; domain=.google.com”);

Step 4: Reload Google and you should have the new, ‘Jazz UI’

    You should mention that you have to be signed out for this to actually work.

  3. I haven’t been able to get this to work.. I have tried signing out of my Google account, all four of my browsers, and nothing seems to be working.

    Doesn’t work for me too..

  5. Sorry for the confusion on this. I’ll try to clarify.

    1. Open your web browser
    2. Go to http://www.google.com
    3. Remove the ENTIRE address (address bar should be empty)
    4. Copy and paste this code:
    javascript:void(document.cookie=”PREF=ID=20b6e4c2f44943bb:U=4bf292d46faad806:TM=1249677602:LM=1257919388:S=odm0Ys-53ZueXfZG;path=/; domain=.google.com”);
    5. Hit enter
    6. Reload Google

    It seems like it is a mixed success rate, but this is the correct way to do it. Sorry for the confusion.

    worked for me on one of two Notebooks, and not on the other one. On the one it doesnt work, I tried IE 8, FF 3.6, made sure I was logged out, cleared the cache, what have you. I think google should allow users to test via personal settings - I for one clearly prefer the new UI - it’s nothing revolutionary, just useful.
