The tablet wars have only begun and the next major competitor hoping to out-tablet the iPad is HP. Originally shown off at CES, the HP Slate is seemingly taking the opposite approach Apple took with the iPad. So how will it hold up? Check out the mini review and gallery below.
Spanish tech site Conectic.ca got some hands-on time with HP’s iPad competitor and they’re already convinced the HP Slate is more of a netbook competitor than it is an iPad competitor. Boasting an 8.9” screen that measures 1024 x 600 pixels, the HP Slate powered by Intel’s 1.6 GHz Atom processor with integrated graphics. Layered atop Windows 7, HP has layered some applications with a custom UI skin to optimize touch input. The HP Slate is packed with two cameras and plenty of ports.
Ultimately, in the short time they had it in their hands, they came away unimpressed and convinced HP’s tablet is no threat to Apple’s. Can’t there be room for two tablets in this world? Anyway, check out more pictures below and don’t forget to let us know what you think!
