Super Sleek Toshiba Tablet to Show Its Face at IFA

Toshiba's ultra thin tabletToshiba’s attempts at shaking up the tablet market have all been pretty feeble so far. First there was the Folio, an affordable 10-inch device that nobody wanted despite its tiny price tag; and then there was the Thrive, another Android tablet that offered a plethora of connections and a body (nearly) as big as your MacBook.

However, the Japanese company’s latest attempt might just be one of the most exciting things at IFA this week, according to leaked images obtained by NotebookItalia. Based on these pictures, Toshiba’s new device is super thin, with a brushed-metal chrome frame, ports for mini USB and micro HDMI, and a microSD card reader.

Unfortunately there are no specifications to accompany the photo, though sources for Android and Me claim the device will boast a 1.5GHz OMAP4460 processor.

It’s great to see that Toshiba has managed to maintain a number of connectivity options while shaving a whole load of that bulk away from its new tablet. And if so much effort has gone into its look and feel, we’re hoping the company will have spent just as much time on its internals. That 1.5GHz processor sounds great, as long as its backed up by specifications that match.

Will Toshiba’s new tablet give the 8.6mm Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 something to worry about? I’m certainly looking forward to its unveiling at IFA later this week.
