Asus Transformer Prime Gets Picture in the Wild With New Keyboard Dock

The Asus Transformer Prime (Transformer 2) was shown off by Jonney Shih, the company’s Chariman, at the AsiaD conference in Hong Kong last week, but it seems you don’t need to be on the Asus executive team to get your hands on one. The Eee Pad Transformer successor is already out in the wild, accompanied by its awesome new keyboard dock.

These pictures show the upcoming device with its most exciting accessory, and if you didn’t know any better, you’d probably think it was just a good-looking notebook. The keyboard dock features a nice aluminum (could be plastic) frame, like the slate itself, and a black chicklet keyboard; in addition to a trackpad.

I know the general consensus is that tablets are designed to be used without keyboards, but coming from a writer’s viewpoint, they are very handy add-ons sometimes. And when they look this good, there’s no reason not to slap one on your device when you need to start typing.

Unfortunately, the pictures don’t give away a lot else, but we do know the Transformer Prime will be the first quad-core tablet, equipped with NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 processor. It’s also expected to launch with the Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS, a 10-inch display, a micro-HDMI output, and a microSD card slot. More information will be available with the device’s official announcement on November 9.

What do you think of the Transformer Prime’s awesome keyboard dock?
