T-Mobile Sidekick 4G In The Wild

The T-Mobile Sidekick 4G has been spotted in the wild. The handset will be the first 4G Sidekick to hit the network and will also be running Android, another Sidekick first.

Photos of the T-Mobile Sidekick 4G were obtained by TmoNews, a website dedicated to T-Mobile news. The photos show that the handset is being made by Samsung. Previous Sidekick models were made by Sharp. A rear-and forward-facing camera are also present, while the handset retains the same form-factor as previous Sidekick models. T-Mobile has not had a Sidekick mode in its handset lineup since the middle of last year.

The Sidekick 4G was announced earlier this month alongside a Galaxy S 4G for T-Mobile. Personally, I’m still surprised T-Mobile is bringing back the Sidekick to begin with. 4G and Android or not, the handset caters to a group of people who I think have found happy handset homes elsewhere. Bringing it back is an interesting choice, and I’ll definitely be impressed if they sell any noteworthy amount of the handsets come launch time.

What do you think about the Sidekick 4G? Would you buy one?
